Chocolate Muffins with Avocado Buttercream

I love muffins, I love chocolate and I love a delicious and healthy breakfast, I mean I’m pretty sure we are all like that right? So when I was approached by Garden Lites to work with them and their delicious veggies filled and uber tasty Chocolate Muffins I knew I had to jump at the opportunity and create something just as delicious as their product.


If you haven’t heard of Garden Lites before you are missing big time. Their chocolate muffins are made with fresh zucchini and carrots and come frozen (you are supposed to keep them frozen all the time). Each one of their muffins is gluten free and dairy free and comes packed with 5g of fiber and 5g of whole grains.

They are delicious as they come, so you don’t need anything extra added to them but if you are feeling extra indulgent you can top them with avocado buttercream.


And oh gosh, this it’s not because I made it, but it’s SO DELICIOUS it’s almost insane + it pairs incredibly well with the Garden Lite Chocolate Muffins. The best thing is that it’s just as nutritious as their treats so it’s not like you are adding anything bad for you.

The ingredients you need to make the avocado buttercream are easy to find, basically, avocados, cocoa powder and a little bit of honey or maple syrup to give it some sweetness.

The only thing you really need to keep in mind is that the avocado should be as creamy as ou can possibly find it, the creamier the better the buttercream you are going to get. And don’t even worry about the flavor, avocado has a really mild flavor so with the cocoa powder added you are not going to even feel it at all!

Chocolate Muffins with Avocado Buttercream
  • GardenLites Chocolate Muffins
  • 2 Very ripe avocados
  • ¾ Cup cocoa powder
  • ¼ Cup honey or maple syrup
  1. In a food processor add the avocados and pulse until very creamy (around 3 minutes).
  2. Add the cocoa powder and the honey or maple syrup and pulse until everything is well incorporated.
  3. Frost your GardenLite Chocolate Muffins with the avocado buttercream.
  4. Serve and enjoy.
