- First things first. You need to boil some water in a pot or something appropriate.
- Wait until the water starts to boil. Now add the almonds to the boiling water for a total of 1-minute max!
The timing is essential here, as cooking the almonds for too long will ruin the whole process.
As soon as the 1 minute time is up, use a colander or something else to remove all the almonds and discard the hot water.
Peeling the almonds
- Quickly toss the almonds in ice-cold water for a few minutes to cool them down.
- Now, you can easily remove the almond skin by applying a little pressure and squeezing.
The heating and cooling process usually makes the almond skin lose its contact with the almond itself. Thus, you can easily remove it.
- There you have it! Blanched almonds look like beautiful pearls and can be used in various recipes and cooking right away.
If you do not plan to use these almonds right away, it is best to freeze them in an airtight bag. These blanched almonds will stay good for around two weeks.
