Traditional Sonic condiments
These are the standard condiments you will find at any Sonic location and pretty much at any fast food restaurant:
- Ketchup
- Mustard
- Mayo
They carry ketchup Heinz packets you can request with pretty much anything you order at no extra cost. This is the perfect condiment for their corndogs so if youa re placing an order of those battered, deep fried sausages make sure you request some extra ketchup packages.
You can also add Heinz Yellow Mustard packet, and while mustard is delicious with retty much anything they are a MUST when it comes to their famous Sonic hot dogs. Next time you order their All-America dog add some mustard to it.
And finally their Heinz mayo packets are a creamy and cool addition to dress up any item from Sonic Drive In menu. Honestly they are a lifesaver when you are trying to customize your order to fit a ketogenic diet. I talk more about it on this post about Sonic Keto options.
Now that we talked about the basics let’s get to the fun part. Sonic dipping sauces are next level delicious and you really need to know every single one of them.
Sonic BBQ sauce
Oh my God. This sauce it’s honestly one of the best BBQ sauces ever.
It’s tangy, it’s salty, it’s vinegar-y in the best possible way.
And it’s not just delicious on burgers, I have found myself dipping almost everything in this sauce. From chicken to french fries to anything in between.
Basically if you need to add some smokiness and sweetness to your order, the BBQ sauce packet is definitely the best way to go.
Looking for something to pair it with? Try it with their popcorn chicken.
Sonic Honey Mustard
Sonic’s honey mustard packet is also a fairly popular condiment from this fast food chain.
Honey mustard sauce is a combination of the tastes of honey and Dijon mustard. Think a bit sweet but not too overpowering.
This one is not as popular as the BBQ but it’s still a sweet sauce that goes well with almost anything on their menu.
Personally I am a huge fan of pairing this one with either chicken strips or anything on their condiment page under salads.
Ranch
Ranch has become a staple condiment and dressing at most American households so it was obvious you were going to be able to find a ranch dressing at Sonic.
Ranch is a smooth and creamy dressing that goes perfectly with any type of salad at Sonic.
But what you probably didn’t know was that they also carry ranch dipping packets.
And if you need to dress up anything from their condiment page (french fries, onion rings, hot dogs, etc) the ranch sauce is always a good option. It’s a classic for a reason!
Looking for something to pair it with? The Ched R Peppers to cool them down or to their Chili Cheese Tots to recreate their secrete menu item: extreme tots!
Picante sauce
Picante sauce is one of my favorites from their list. The name basically translates to spicy so you should only use this sauce if you can handle spiciness.
This is perfect for those who want some extra kick in their orders.
Picante is a creamy and spicy addition to any order from their condiment page. I recommend it on the standard items like their chicken wrap.
Their Picante sauce is also perfect with one of my favorite things: their breakfast burrito! You can give it a fun kick to your breakfast with one of these packets.
Just keep in mind you won’t be able to find them at every location.
Sonic signature sauce
This is a somewhat new recipe and one that not everyone knows off (unless you are die-hard Sonic fan).
Their signature sauce it’s basically a combination of BBQ sauce and Honey mustard.
So if you are like me and have trouble deciding between the two sauces you cna go with this one and get the best of both worlds.
This of this condiment as a sweet, savory, smoky and tangy creamy sauce that’s delicious with their chicken tenders.
I also think it’s a great dipping sauce to use over burgers.
Fry sauce
Oh my gosh the famous fry sauce that takes the internet by storm. This famous Sonic sauce it’s not available on all locations and it’s more of a regional thing so you definitely need to check with your local fast food restaurant if you want to try it out.
If yours doesn’t carry it don’t worry you can pretty much recreate it by mixing ketchup and mayo.
This is obviously the best sauce to dip their fries and tots.
Sonic Marinara
Depending on your restaurant you might be able to request the packet or might only come with your Mozzarella sticks.
The Sonic’s marinara sauce it’s probably one of their least popular dipping sauces mainly because it’s just marinara (and it’s not like they are a popular Italian fast food place you know?).
Want to try them next time? Order them with their melty and crunchy mozzarella stick.
Cheese sauce
This is also one of the all time favorites probably because we are all collectively obsessed with cheese.
The cheese sauce is basically orange in color and it’s a creamy dipping sauce for their Soft Pretzel Stick. Think cheesy, melty and super creamy
They also offer some of their delicious chili cheese tots with this sauce on the side. Just sayin’.
Seasonal sauces
Sonic is almost always rolling out seasonal sauces and regional options to keep your eyes peeled on their menu to see if they are launching something new and fun.
Some of the popular sauces they have launched in the past are:
- Garlic parmesan: An Italian sauce that was creamy and smooth
- Extreme habanero heat: Their uber spicy and super hot sauce
- Island fire: A Caribbean inspired sauce
- Buffalo: A spicy sauce made with cayenne pepper, red chili flakes and some chipotle
- Asian Sweet Chili: A dipping sauce made with lemongrass, red pepper flakes and soy sauce
- Honey Barbeque: A sweeter version of their BBQ sauce.
- Hot honey
- Pineapple habanero
Sonic dipping sauce for burgers
When people talk about Sonic dipping sauce for burgers they are probably referring to the Sonic¡s crave sauce.
One of their best kept secret recipes and one that has been circling around the internet for years.
It’s the sauce that’s served with the Sonic Crave Cheeseburger one of their signature burgers.
It’s basically a combination of ketchup and mayo with ketchup, chili sauce, relish or chopped pickles, sugar, paprika and onion powder.
Think of it as a super creamy, savory and tangy sauce that pairs incredibly well with the meat and veggies of the cheeseburger.
Once again requesting the sauce as an extra is not possible everywhere as it depends on your local restaurant.
Yes! Sonic rolled out a special sauce that you can order with your burger, fries or corn dogs. It’s basically a combination of BBQ sauce and honey mustard.
Yes! They do have a fry sauce at some regional or select locations. Sonic’s fry sauce it’s basically a combination f ketchup and mayo and a delicious complement for fries and tots.
What’s the most popular Sonic dipping sauce
Their BBQ sauce it’s the most ordered dipping sauce you can get from Sonic Drive In.
Their Honey mustard and Ranch dressings go in a close second place.
If you love Sonic as much as I do, then you know that their dipping sauces are the best. They’re always coming out with new flavors, and I never get tired of trying them all.
My favorite is definitely the BBQ sauce, but I also love the crave sauce and honey mustard sauce. What’s your favorite Sonic dipping sauce? Let me know in the comments!
