Looking for some Sonic Sugar Free drinks? In this post we outline the best low calorie, zero sugar and keto drink options you can get at Sonic Drive-In.
Sonic is a great fast food restaurant if you are looking for some healthier alternatives. I know it sounds crazy, after all they are well known for hamburgers and sugar laden sodas and slushies.
However they have incredible options if you know how to work the menu items in your favor. So let’s jump right in and outline all sugar free soft drinks available.
Classic Sugar Free Options
Before we start talking about soda flavors let’s talk about the true healthier drink alternatives and menu options that are truly sugar free
Coffee
Black coffee is a great healthier alternative if you are looking for sugar free drinks and best of all you can find it at all sonic locations.
If it’s in the middle of Summer and you are looking for something refreshing you can ask for your black coffee poured over ice. Healthy Iced Coffee? Sign me up
Water
Needless to say, water is one of the best drinks with no added sugar you can get at the fast food chain. A bottle of water will hydrate you and quench your thirst.
If you are like me, you can ask Sonic employees for a styrofoam cup with Sonic’s famous ice and a straw. That way plain water feels more fun.

Fun Sugar Free Sonic Drinks
Now that we went over all the classic and basic drinks let’s go to the fun part, the fizzy refreshments you can get at your local Sonic. The best part? There are also low carb alternatives that are to die for.
Sonic Diet Limeade
The Sonic Diet Limeade is one of the best drinks you can get at Sonic. That’s how good I find it to be.
This signature drink that’s available pretty much at every Sonic location is made with real fruit. Yep, it’s made with freshly squeezed lime juice and Sprite Zero.
The best thing is it has between 5 and 15 calories depending on the size you pick so it’s a great low calorie alternative.
Ask for the small size drink and you are looking for a refreshing and flavorful drink for just 5 calories.
Diet Cherry Limeade
The diet cherry limeade is the newer alternative to the classic diet limeade. It’s made with fresh lime juice, Sprite Zero and a splash of their delicious sugar free flavor syrup.
The bad news is diet cherry limeade is higher in calories than the classic limeade. A large drink has around 90 calories, so if you are counting them it’s probably better to just stick to the lime one.
Unsweetened Iced Tea
Iced Teas are also a good option if you are looking for healthier drinks. It’s packed with antioxidants and has a delicious flavor that feels more fun than water. It’s also low carb and works great for those following a keto diet.
Best of all? You can customize it with the iconic flavors add-ins and create various drink combinations.
Diet Sodas
Coke Zero, Diet Coke, Sprite Zero, and Diet Dr. Pepper are a good option if you are a huge soda fan.
They are a great no sugar option that’s fizzy, refreshing and oh so delicious.
Sugar Free Flavor Add Ins
Remember how I said you can find the unsweetened tea and limeades in a bunch of fun low calorie flavors? Well we can thank the flavor add-ins for that!
They are made with artificial sweetener so you can play and create your very own low calorie beverage options.
Their syrups come in:
- Cherry
- Peach
- Raspberry
- Mango
- Blackberry
For example, one of my go drink mixes is adding mango syrup to the diet limeade. This way you can create your very own Sonic Splash Mango-Lime. It’s a healthy drink with a tropical twist and a whole lot of flavor and 0 grams of sugar.
If you add some sugar free blackberry syrup to your soda you can enjoy a sonic splash blackberry.
What I love the most about these low-calorie drink mixes is that you can create all the new drinks your heart desires.
Fresh fruits
On the other hand you can also add real lemons to your order. It is a light boost of vitamin c and a different way to enjoy your plain water or tea.
You can also add a cherry, lime and even a strawberry.
Add some fresh strawberry to your cherry limeade and feel like you are having your very own strawberry lemonade.
The great thing about fresh fruit is that you are not adding any artificial flavors so if you are trying to keep your diet as clean as possible they are a good choice.
What drink seems sugar free but it’s not sugar free? Diet Sonic slushes not even the plain slush
I know I know, they are called diet after all and Sonic has some of the best slushies but the only thing that’s sugar free is the syrup they use.
All the other ingredients are packed with sugar and so high in calories so there’s not such a thing as a sugar-free sonic slush option.
Tl;dr about Sonic Sugar Free Drinks
Next time you want to have something without much sugar you can go to Sonic. Their diet dr pepper mixed with some flavor add ins is to die for.
Their diet limeade is incredibly popular (and delicious with one of their plain hot dogs and chili cheese coney tbh).
And their assortment of flavors takes any soda or unsweetened tea to the next level. I honestly feel that they open one of those secret menus that’s so fun to explore (and one that’s low cal!).
You can also ask for plain water and add some fresh fruits if you are looking to balance the french fries on their menu.
