Waffle irons give waffles a nice crispy texture that pancakes lack
Crispy, flaky waffles are awesome. And the main reason why waffles are superior to pancakes is because of that delicious crispy texture. Pancakes are much more spongey, waffles have that awesome crispy exterior that makes them better.
However if you are a fan of melt in your mouth texture than probably something like these mcdonalds pancakes are better for you.
Waffles can be topped with all sorts of delicious toppings, from fruit to chocolate sauce.
Waffles don’t judge you. You can use any topping your heart desires. From jams and jellies to eggs and chicken. You have all the range of toppings and sides when it comes to servings waffles.
And while you can technically use some of those same toppings with pancakes I have yet to see someone enjoying theirs with fried chicken.
Waffles can be sweet or savory, while pancakes are always sweet
You don’t need to slather syrup on your waffles, you can have savory toppings if you want! It’s great that you can enjoy waffles before or after breakfast, but pancakes are always sweet.
I don’t mean only on toppings you can also add some savory mix ins to the batter itself! You can add things like cheese, peppers, chives and you can even add things like pepperoni to the batter itself infusing it with some extra flavor.
Are you reading that? You can make a cheese waffle. If that’s not the best I don’t know what can be.
Waffles also warm up better than pancakes.
There’s nothing more annoying than waiting for pancakes to warm up. Sure they taste delicious, but you can’t save them for later like waffles.
When left at room temperature, waffles will be fresh and crispy after they are done cooking. Pancakes will start getting soggy after only ten minutes or so.
Also if you want to reheat your waffle you can just pop it back in the waffle maker for a couple of minutes.
Waffles have more room for toppings than pancakes
I mean the waffle texture is perfect for holding all your toppings.
Just think about it. You pour some maple syrup over your waffles. What happens? The little squares on top hold it for you.
It’s perfect.
Waffles are easier to cook than pancakes
and can be cooked and assembled much faster than pancakes.
Pancakes take a lot of time and effort, but waffles are pretty straightforward. You need to butter the iron, pour the batter in it, close it and wait.
It will come out perfect every single time.
With pancakes you need to be on the stove, spying for those little bubbles to show on top of the batter. Waiting for them to cook. Flipping each one by hand and hoping they don’t burn and end up cooked through.
Waffles are portable while pancakes are not
I mean it’s pretty hard to eat a pancake while you’re at the office. Waffles are more firm so they hold better their shape which makes them easy to carry and take from one place to another.
Waffles also don’t become soggy which again makes them better to transport.
Fried chicken and waffles is the bets combo ever
I mean come on! Fried chicken and waffles is a match made in heaven. It’s something you can’t miss out on. There are whole restaurants with menus that revolve around this, movies have been made about this combo .
Also if you have ever had waffles with some maple syrup and some fried chicken on top, I am sure this is not something you can forget.
Waffles are perfect for sharing
Who doesn’t love sharing food?
And waffles are perfect for that. They’re stable enough to hold together while you’re slicing them apart so everyone gets an equal share.
Pancakes on the other hand fall apart pretty fast and can be somewhat awkward to share. You have to cut them up with a knife, but still it’s better than having them fall apart in your hands.
Waffles are also great for stacking and party tricks
You can stack waffles up to make a tower so everyone gets their share, but with pancakes you have to find some other way of doing it.
Waffles never become soggy for too many toppings,
you can even fit some ice cream on top and it will be delicious.
Pancakes feel fluffier but aren’t as firm so they can hold all your toppings for too long.
Both are the same.
Waffles and pancakes are not high on the healthy breakfast menu list. Actually this is kind of a complicated answer because it depends a lot on the size of the waffle or pancake you are having.
Waffles and pancakes are usually made with the same batter which consists of: flour, eggs and milk. These ingredients are then either cooked on a pan or a waffle griddle to give them that crispy exterior we all love.
However waffles tend to be larger than pancakes so you are getting more of that delicious, sinful batter. If you want to keep the calories down then just go with a smaller waffle or pancake. That way you can still enjoy them while keeping with your requirements.
Waffles are cuter than pancakes. This is just a fact.
I think I’ve made it pretty clear that waffles taste better than pancakes. But to answer the question in simpler terms; yes, waffles are much tastier than pancakes.
Because when you add toppings to waffles they all mix in together and it’s a taste explosion in your mouth. And when you add toppings to pancakes its just going to fall off or get too soggy from the syrup that is inevitably going to be added.
And the texture, I mean come on. Waffles have a crispy exterior and a soft interior, pancakes are just kind of spongy in general
So why are waffles the best breakfast
Waffles are the best breakfast item hands down. They’re crispy and fluffy and they’ve got that sweet or savory touch to them.
They taste delicious and you can add toppings into their batter or on top of them if you want!
You can use different batters like chocolate waffle batter or banana waffle batter or even pizza batter, for something different every day.
And you can play with your toppings and go with things like fried chicken and waffles or strawberries and cream waffles.
The texture is also incredibly superior with a crispy exterior and a fluffy interior and they never go soggy or limp.
And that texture? Yes, it also hold all your topping for you so they are easier to eat.
And finally, they are cuter than pancakes. You can make them any shape or size you want and decorate them with fruit, syrup or chocolate sauce. They are the perfect breakfast food.
IHOP waffles vs pancakes
I know IHOP stands for International House of Pancake but they should seriously think about rebranding to International House of Waffles because their waffles are the bomb
Their whole menu seems to revolve around pancakes so people don’t think about their waffles but they are so worth it.
Next time you go to IHOP make sure you order the Belgian waffle. It’s a large waffle topped with IHOP signature butter and a good drizzle of maple syrup.
They also offer it on a combo served with eggs and crispy fried bacon.
and not only that but their gluten friendly Belgian waffles are also so incredibly good you wont believe you are having a gluten free waffle.
So next time you are there make sure to order any of their waffles because they are TO DIE FOR.
As you can see there are many reasons why waffles are better than pancakes!
Waffles are better than pancakes because they are more crispy and taste better too. They also offer a variety of toppings to choose from which makes them even tastier! They never become soggy and can be savory or sweet and they are the perfect choice if you need to make them ahead of time since they are easy to reheat.
What do you think? Have these 10 points convinced you that there is no better way to start your day off right than with waffles?
